As for pool stroke I’m certified as an S.P.F. instructor as taught by BCA Master Instructor Randy Goettlicher from Cue-Tech Instructors in Dallas. I find that his is one of the best methods out there today.
What drives you to give to your pool students so much of yourself?
To me the money is not as important as giving the student more then they pay for in time and lesson information. I know this doesn’t sound right in a business model but that’s the way it is with me.
If you are a league player and sign up for 10 weeks of lessons I will give all members a discount—APA, TAP, BCA. All you need to do is tell me beforehand that you are a member of a league and show me a league card or some type of appropriate paperwork.
The student is very important to me personally, as I have taken many hours of lessons and want to share some of the main problems that come while taking lessons. For example, an instructor not starting you at your current level of play! Why should you pay for information you already have?
Other things I have been told I disliked, such as while taking lessons that “this is the only way” to do something! Or being told you need to practice 6 to 8 hours a day to improve your game—with the right information you cut that time in half easily.
I do not make those same mistakes with my students, I have a short test I give them first to see at what level they play, then I go from there with lessons that add to the students knowledge base. I also certify instructors for the ACS and the DPM schools.
