Who wouldn’t like to stroke their pool cue as straight as a programmed robot? Now, apparently, you can, thanks to some bright minds at Canada’s Queen’s University.
“Deep Green”, technology’s answer to the chess-playing artificial intelligence called “Deep Blue”, can stroke a pool cue very well indeed, shooting cut shots, trick shots, and even “thinking” about shot strategy using its on board AI.
Whereas the chess robot improved over time by “learning”, (and also, to be honest, by having a team of chess masters continually update its software until Deep Blue could beat human champions) let’s admit it, the pool robot is a much cooler device and can probably make you a lot more money...
“Oh, no. You beat me out of $50 at 9-Ball again. How about my friend plays you instead? Yeah, my little metal friend, that’s it, that’s the ticket…”
