Settling down comfortably

Balanced and comfortable

I am leaning over from the hips, settling into the muscles of my thighs, dropping my torso and rear down, changing my body's alignment by bending the knees and not my back from the waistline.

I've been specific about lowering my body with my legs and hips since any bending from the waist or upper trunk at this point will cause significant strain on my lower back. Many skilled players have caught their career at the pool tables short by straining their muscles. If you want to play a long session at the tables frequently, you need to learn to lower your weight onto comfortably balanced legs.

Great pool players appear in similar stances at the table. Despite individual variations, they are comfortably balanced, not awkwardly stretched, and able to shoot pool for a long time comfortably.
