1. While standing or seated, place your hand, the hand of your usual pool shooting arm on your breast, as though you are preparing to say a vow or pledge of allegiance.
2. Brush the palm of your hand up and down along your chest. Arm movement should be mostly in the forearm. Your upper arm should move only slightly. Keep the wrist and arm loose and flexible. The wrist will move perfectly in ulna and radial deviation as explained here at About.com. (Be sure your shirt is not "sticky" and allows freedom of movement--if you are wearing a shirt!)
3. Note how any rigid, clenched muscle will ruin this stroking motion. The hand is relazed, the polar opposite of a clenched fist. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "so gentle the cue is about to fall from their hand", pros grip their cues near 1 for most strokes.
That's it! You are learning the optimal way, by feel and muscle sensation, to discern the correct stroking motion for most pool shot techniques. And away you go--to the pool hall!
