Your pool lessons come fast and furious at About.com, and now we are considering the classic "pull" stroke in pool.

The key concept of "pulling" the cue stick through the classic pool stroke has helped countless players improve their game. Try it on for size.

Pool teachers who use this method for their students encourage them to gracefully pull their cue stick back and forward again for the final stroke. The notion of pulling the stick helps many players to relax clenched muscles and gently guide the cue through its paces.

Bear in mind this pulling motion is quite different than pulling a luggage cart along or pulling on a rope during a tug of war. The effort utilized is a fraction of typical activities, and hand strength is further reduced by moving the wrists accurately through the stroke as illustrated elsewhere on the site.

Moving the wrists accurately and the cue gently also helps against typical pool motion injuries.
