Definition: A handicap given to equate odds for a less skilled opponent. "Spot" is also a pool synonym for points on the pool table where imaginary lines would converge, traced from beneath the diamonds atop the table, thus the "foot spot" at one end of the table, "the foot" two diamonds' distance from the short rail in the middle of the table, and so on.
Examples: "Will you spot me one game in a race to three or how large a spot will you give me?" "I'll give you a big handicap, but first put the cue ball back on the spot where it belongs
"
