The billiards/Bond film completist has to admit, "Mr. Big's" heaviest heavies are shooting pool up in Harlem (actually, 94th Street and Second Avenue by the time filming was complete) in the 8th 007 opus, Live and Let Die.
Turns out clashes between police and residents and riots stalked Harlem streets as EON Productions set to shoot exteriors high in Manhattan. The famous "Fillet Of Soul" New York "Harlem" scene was actually filmed off 94th Street instead (I know because I took film fans there for a tour and recognized the 94th Street Garage sign just, barely visible in the film. The crew thoughtfully covered the Second Avenue street sign with one reading "Lenox Avenue", to throw others off the chase...
In the film, the bad guys can be seen and heard casually shooting stick in the background as Bond is kidnapped without so much as a bourbon on the rocks or martini to boot! Along with our other Bond pool and snooker films, Live And Let Die ranks high both in sheer fan enjoyment and the glory that is billiards.
And hey, baby, tell 'em that Mr. Big sent you...
