Open Table

Definition: For games where the ball sets of opposing players are chosen after play has begun, the condition where no player has been earmarked a set. For example, following the break in 8-ball, the table is open (no one yet assigned stripes or solids) no matter how many balls were pocketed.
Examples:
She was annoyed that stripes looked easier on the open table even though she had broken in three solids.
