Pool teaching experts should admit--there are things you may do to better teach yourself billiards.

While the practice habits of the stars like Tommy Kennedy, Jeanette Lee and Efren Reyes were honed on their journey to greatness by 6 to 10 hours of practice per day, you need not suffer so much (nor, probably, do you have that much time on your hands available for intense practice and drills).

I would tell you the following secrets to fast pool improvement, however, for you who wish to do some pool teaching for yourself:

1. Play an hour daily. Whether you have a good session or a poor one, lay down the cue after that time. Within two weeks or less, many shots will start to look the same and fall into easy patterns, and the pockets will seem to be bigger in size! (Really!)

2. After five or six weeks, take a week off from practice. Rest your pool mind as well as any sore shoulders or other muscles.

3. Keep a log of your pool work as I suggest.

These three steps will bring you much improvement in pool and keeping a log, you may (with some authority) dub yourself a pool teacher. Remember to seek other fine pool instructors also.
