Hooked

Definition: A ball or the player shooting it is “hooked” when a pocket’s jaw blocks a shot. The “hook” in case is the point of the pocket, which resembles the sharp point of a pirate’s hook.
Examples:
A pool player would certainly experience mixed emotions breaking eight balls into pockets in 9-ball, only to be hooked for the 9-ball itself.
