Gopher Eight gives you the chance to place a number of your personal skill. Can you run 5 balls to the eight ball and the end of the game consistently? Can you run 6, 7 or more on a frequent basis?
What factors are holding you back if your hi-runs disappoint you at this game? A typical error includes not correctly identifying a key ball to shoot last before the 8-ball and perhaps a second key ball to gain solid position on that ball itself.
Other players rush in to finish the game before ensuring all the balls remaining on the table are in decent position. In other words, assess your percentages in polishing off the win before going forward--let the other player be your "gopher" and set your win instead.
Assess your skills as you go for eight!
