Double Hit

Definition: When the cue stick touches the cue ball twice during a shot. An illegal stroke that often arises as the cue ball is close to the point of contact the player is aiming toward.

Good choices to avoid the double hit typically include aiming through the shot at an oblique angle or working the bridge hand and cuestick to avoid the cue's penetrating the cue ball to any great depth where it would hit the ball a second time during the course of the stroke.

Examples:
Hustlers and cheaters love to play unnatural strokes using illegal double hit shots.
