Getting My Billiards League Groove On

Donny Lutz, whom I've endorsed as an outstanding pool instructor (and I don't endorse a great many pool teachers) is starting a new local billiards league here in Gainesville, Florida.

Even in a town drenched with billiards leagues like ours, that's good news. This new league will combine some of the best of the BCA and the new ACS styling and rules--players will decide ultimately what they want--with cash prizes guaranteed for winners and a good time guaranteed for all.

We're playing using the World Standardized Rules. All league members are automatically qualified for all BCA and ACS national and regional events--if they choose to do so by paying a modest entry fee.

Plus we get to kick the tires on Main Street Billiards, Gainesville's newest hall featuring 15 Brunswick tables with brand new Simonis cloth! It's a nice establishment with special daytime rates and student discounts, also a great need in a town with two large colleges serving over 65,000 enrolled students.

If you're in North Central Florida, drop a line to Donny Lutz today and get more information on the new league. As a courtesy bonus, Donny and I often provide pool lessons to teammates through the season.

Matt
Thanks for your recent e-mail also thanks for all your hard work for our sport. I enjoy reading all your hints and articles. I have included a link to youe web site on our web site http://www.route19tap.com.
As for our experiences so far as league licencee’s for the TAP pool league. We are currently in our first session with the TAP Pool League. We now have ove 230 players in 5 divisions and many more inquiring. We are happy so far with the reception to this TAP idea with over 3 other national leagues operating in our area. You were right with every league there are many headaches and bumps in the road. However I have found the staff at the national TAP headquarters are outstanding in their willingness to help and advise the licensee.
Recently we attended TAP’s Ralley in The Valley in Valley Forge Pa. and were impressed with the events that TAP held you can check out the results at TAPleague.com.
But even more importantly Loyd Schonter founder and ceo of TAP LLC held a 12 hour meeting with all licensee’s from all over the U.S. and Canada on the first day of the event. He is working hard for our sport and has great vision for the amature league format.

Thanks again
George
