Pool Schools DiscussionPool is in serious danger or at least the typical pool school is.
Alarmist, you say? Pool in danger, with publications flourishing like Pool and Billiard Magazine and InsidePool Magazine, and pool on TV constantly? With a younger, hipper and attractive set of new male and female pros from around the world leading the game?
The issue I am thinking of is the lack of help at younger levels for aspiring players. While I am always against a so-called “culture of entitlement”, good pool schools like my own beloved University of Florida have pool and billiards opportunities that truly give the students a healthy outlet.
The UF Game Room offers students a happy place to go in a drug- and alcohol-free environment. Students need more than libraries, parties and Starbucks nowadays to get through!
A recent search online turned up few colleges or high schools committed to the great sport of pool. If you have a super pool school, please tell us on our forums or comment here.

I am stationed in Asia with the Deptartment of Justice and have been an avid “A” 9 Ball player for years. Is it true, as I have heard many times, since Asia broadcasts Billiards almost every day on ESPN and Star Sports, that there is a Billiard academy in Taipei ? Has anyone heard of it or know of it ? They say some of the great young Asian players including Wu and Yang have attended.
