Cruise and Shoot!

Tuesday April 10, 2007
Pool and billiards players have often felt homesick on seagoing cruises. The rocking motion of most cruise liners prohibits shooting pool but now, an intriguing innovation allows 9-ball, 8-ball and much more on 21st Century equipment. The new gyroscopic self-leveling pool tables available on select cruises (aboard Royal Caribbean's Radiance family of ships) allow pool players to shoot lights out anytime, in all but the roughest seas.

Quality pool tables are level to thousandths of an inch tolerance along their playing surface. Modern cruise ships, despite their makers' efforts to provide a comfortable ride for cruise passengers, have until now failed to provide a pool table without a comical wobble to its surface. The new tables have gyroscopic self-correcting underpinnings. a dream come true for pool players.

Sixth Star Entertainment is partnering Royal Caribbean to offer pool classes, led by skilled instructors, aboard select sailings including Alaska and other world-class destinations. Enjoy and happy sailing!

A Brilliant Excursion on the Green! Pocket Billiards or “the Cueing Arts” as I am now educated. Timothy White known as the “Australian Oyster” showed our family that pocketing balls is not a game but a true art. We sailed Royal Caribbean’s, Brilliance of the Seas on an 11 day amazing vacation to the Panama Canal. Our family enjoyed every moment of our trip. We enjoyed a wonderful day with the Oyster on Grand Cayman riding scooters. Tim showed us that billiards, if learned correctly as with many others things in life, can and is a very rewarding sport. Upon arriving home in Las Vegas, we soon purchased a new brunswick Gold Grown table and have truly discovered a new passion and unity with our family that we never thought possible. Thank you very much, Mr. Oyster, you saved our family from a road I wasn’t prepared to handle.
